A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. the default setup was indeed AHCI, changed it to IDE. I tried unplugging extra Ram and my WD harddrive, but I still get WinXP stuck at the 35min range at the "installing devices" phase.
