Read many many many threads on possible solutions, unfortunately none of them worked. Expanding Windows Files Slow Ssd generally it takes < 1 hr complete probably 40 minutes. I was about to just go to sleep with my fingers crossed and hope that it would be done when I woke up. I tried booting off on the faulty HD using my own rig, and what do you know, it's at desktop in under a minute.
