I finally fixed it, working from the assumption that it was a shell extension causing the issue, rather than native Windows code. At least you will be able to use the system folders again. But of course I'm here looking for help cause I assume the rest of you guys are more informed.

Right click in an empty space and select View, List.

These two extensions are therefore both individually causing the crashes. please try to uninstall or reinstall this APP for test. my connection was hanging because of an email that was going out and I didn't realize it was getting through. Does anyone know how to fix this?
