I travel all the time and have never had this problem. Although I'll be roaming for the next fortnight, hope that doesn't mess it up. So when your system starts to behave erratically, it's a good idea to go looking for a software cause first before jumping to conclusions. Every email server has an online option. In this case, something about the message is preventing the delete command from being executed by the server through IMAP which is why you cannot get rid of it. Give someone a fish, and they eat for a day. The only thing I can figure is one of the Windows "Automatic" updates that install while I sleep have changed something.
