Just use Classic Shell and search will work perfectly. Killing Cortana did the trick. sferrell615 while this might do the same thing as above (re-indexing) it doesn't solve the problem of being able to search a 2nd drive (e.g. One of the drives was failing and so I've replaced that and ever since my indexing is not working.
