and as I tried posting this the first time I got disconnected yet again.. Is there a way to get a link to that download so I can manually apply it to my computer? I have a laptop with VISTA and a desk top with XP. I'm having the same problem, using WEP security. Check This Out

The desktop is wired to the Netgear router and the laptop connects wirelessly to the router. If I try to make a namual connection with wpa/tkip as be on router, windows show wpa/tkip protocol but show a red X on it and disable the connection button.
