Every time that I try to start my Windows Media Center, a message pops up about 10 seconds later that says "Media Center has stopped working" at the top and under And trouble shoot Media Center when it is not in the full screen mode so that at least you can halt it without rebooting. So I then set about re-installing the 'set-up' by going through Media Centre set-up. That said, you were right, it was the internet security settings of my antivirus!
