Please indicate if there is a solution. I have been told by a couple of IT friends that they have seen similar issues due to unsigned drivers, however that would seem unlikely since I have not modified anything Unless I go in and set the configurations correctly for 7.1 stereo after upgrading the sound card drivers, I will get no sound whatsoever.Lastly, check to see that the drivers for oxc0000022 !! 2414/67454 (taskeng.exe) has not budged in the last hour. his comment is here

  1. You know, till now the only tool capable of doing this, I was aware of, was VistaPE (MB 80 ISO FILE) but it requires WAIK (1 GB ISO FILE) in order
  2. As far as I am concerned, I would give up but I'm pretty sure one day I will get an error message stating SP2 is the minimum required to install some
  3. At this point I held down the power button and shut the machine off completely, since I assumed something had gone wrong.

So I decided to just forget that idea and hope that eventually Microsoft would come up with "fixes" to alleviate the problems. If fixes never occur, and this laptop "bites the dust", I installed sp2 yesterday on my wife's computer. I have an HP and if this will not reboot, I guess fixing it will take out the restore section on the hard drive. All official MS channels keep saying the same junk "Run Update Readiness Tool". "Run File Checker". New install of Vista Business edition (pre SP1). http://roguewb.com/windows-vista/windows-vista-will-not-boot-with-4gb-of-ram.html To resolve system file issues, use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file.

I was doing a routine update on windows explorer for updates and sp2 showed up. I have no Windows Vista DVD. Once you drag and drop your first folder, you will notice a small menu will appear giving you the option to move or copy.

The machine is under warranty, so I will definitely be taking it back to the shop on Tuesday if it still won't work.

Choose COPY each time you drag and drop.YOU ARE DONE!!! click next, then a screen of lists should come up click the SECOND one. I do all the upgrades, and am okay (I suppose it might have installed SP 2 without my knowledge but I doubt it somehow… is that possible Rick?!). this was a vista basic computer btw.

It's strange and not cool. I don't use ImgBurn to burn an ISO Image but I believe that I won't experience any problem using another similar tool. won't install even a hardrive via sata, meaning i can't back up data. I cannot even boot Vista up at all. The tech at my house agrees with me on this. Yes No Thanks for your feedback.Don't forget to take a few seconds to say thanks: Thank you Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry. Yes!! 4).

Was hoping SP 1 would fix this issue. Then it told me it had not installed SP1 and was returning to the original programme.

What we need to try to do is see if it will boot in Safe Mode. Once in a great while, after 500000 times of turning it on and off, I can get to the bios, but that's very rare. Now that the support for SP2 has expired I wonder where that leaves us unfortunates. I would not install any of the optional updates especially if they are driver related.

I have swapped out the 1gb of RAM and replaced with 2gb. It's taking me twice as long to do my online work as it used to when I had XP SP3 and IE 7.I do recommend that you sever your internet connection However if that doesnt help or does no good.. It worked for me twice now.
