I did do some googling and came across this utility on Western Digital website that provides low level formatting for certain disk controllers (not sure if you're in this category). website here In my experience with IDE hard drives, there are many pin positions, and you normally have to have at least one pin in each drive. So I ordered recoverey disks from the retailers HP site leads to and after i place the second disk in it stops working at 81%. It's been stuck at 99% for quite a while now, nearly 20 minutes, I haven't done this in a long time and I can't remember if this is normal or not.
